Young Liceans win in inter-school contests

Unceasingly carving a name for the University, the Grade School Department takes pride in the feats that its students garnered in the various inter-school contests.

In the October 1 Division Press Conference at the East City Central School, this city, seven students were awarded, namely: Ranilyn S. Abucayon (3rd Place, Photojournalism – Filipino); Frenzyl April C. Miraflor (5th Place, Sports Writing – Filipino); David Chino F. Bacsarpa (6th Place, Editorial Cartooning – Filipino); Josef Andrei C. Blanca (7th Place, Features Writing – English); Mart C. Amores (7th Place, Features Writing – Filipino); Gilley Kate L. Melendez (9th Place, Copy Reading – English); and April Geneviv T. Ozarraga (9th Place, Copy Reading – Filipino).

Meanwhile, in the Division Science-Quiz and Science-Drama competitions, the LdCU contingent stood out as Jerom Victor E. Lagang emerged asthe overall champion in the Science-Drama category, Grade-6 level. John Moises R. Mangubat ranked second in the Science Quiz Bee, Grade-5 level, while Kristofer Y. Mendoza ranked third in the Grade-6 level.

Aside from the preceding awards, the Grade School Department also carved a name during the Cagayan de Oro Association of Private Elementary Schools (CAPES) meet on September 17 at Cagayan de Oro College (COC), this city. Rizel S. Palamine, Grade-6 Forbearance, was proclaimed champion in the District Mathematics Quiz Bee. Complimenting this feat was another championship award in Hekasi Quiz Bee courtesy of Divine Rose D. Balolong.

The said young Licean awardees and their respective trainers and coaches were commended by Mrs. Fe D. Opina, Grade School Principal, for giving honor to the whole Liceo community.
