Turning 25, High School celebrates accomplishments

As it turns 25 years old in the coming school year, the High School Department of Liceo de Cagayan University takes stock of its various accomplishments this academic year 2005-2006.

"We are proud of our students, who have been on a winning streak," declares High School Principal Joan Gallaron.

Student Nero A. Banggay emerged as the champion of the inter-school on-the-spot Poster-Making Contest organized by the Cagayan de Oro Water District on August 5, 2005.

During the "Search for Oro Star" singing contest sponsored by Yes FM on August 13, 2005, student Sheena Bautista ran away with the championship.

At the annual Press Conference of the Department of Education, Division Level (October 1, 2005), Genevieve Lazarte was named Champion for Editorial Cartooning (Filipino).

The High School Rondalla, under the baton of conductor Mr. David Catalan, took the Championship of the National Music Competition for Young Artists, Regional Level, on October 21, 2005.

At the Rotary Club of the South's Drum and Bugle Corps Festival on November 20, 2005, Liceo High School's Drum and Bugle Corps left its competitors as it claimed the Championship. It also got special awards for Best Band Majorette, Best in Uniform, and the Most Applauded Group.

On February 25, 2006, Krizza C. Simudlan was awarded First Place in the Quiz Bowl Contest sponsored by the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro in celebration of "Pro-Life Month."

Liceo High School students also clinched other top awards. Shaun Durante was First Runner-Up at the Oratorical Contest sponsored by PFCCO. Hazel B. Uy won Second Place at the Essay-Writing Contest organized by the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro in celebration of "Pro-Life Month." Nero Banggay was named Third Place Winner at the Poster-Making Contest, Regional Level, of the Cagayan de Oro Water District.
